About the collection

One family. One shed. Nothing dressed up.

These six cars have been kept together by one family in Gippsland. They are being sold because a collection eventually needs someone with the time to use it, and that is no longer us.

They are not all the same proposition, and we have not tried to make them look like they are. Three were on Victorian club permits and ready to be enjoyed — the two restored Oldsmobiles and the original, unrestored Valiant. The Oldsmobiles are for sale now, and the Valiant has been sold. The Chevrolet roadster is fully restored but not currently registered, and the two Goggomobils are unregistered projects, one of them incomplete; those three will be listed soon. Every vehicle page states plainly what that particular car is, what comes with it, and what it does not have.

What we would ask is that you come and look. Photographs flatter some of these and do no favours at all to others, and half an hour in the shed will tell you more than any listing can.

Before you ask

Questions we get

Can I inspect the cars before buying?

Yes, and you are encouraged to. All six are in one place in Gippsland, Victoria, and can be seen by appointment. Bring someone who knows these cars if you would like to — nothing here needs to be sold to someone who has not looked underneath it.

Which of them are running and registered?

The 1925 Oldsmobile Tourer and the c1936 Oldsmobile sedan are on current Victorian club permits. (The 1962 Valiant, also on a club permit, has been sold.) The 1928 Chevrolet Roadster has just been restored and is unregistered. The Goggomobil T300 and the Goggomobil Dart are both unregistered project cars — the T300's engine is not known to run, and the Dart is incomplete. Each vehicle page says plainly where that car stands.

What is a Victorian club permit, exactly?

It is a limited-use registration for vehicles more than 25 years old. You join a VicRoads-approved car club, apply through them, and receive club permit plates, a certificate and a log book. The permit allows either 45 or 90 days of road use a year, recorded in the log book. A club permit does not transfer with the car — the new owner applies in their own name. Full current conditions are on the VicRoads website.

Are the prices negotiable?

Each listed price is a considered asking figure rather than an opening bid, but sensible offers will be considered. Cars marked “listing soon” do not have a price yet — register your interest and we will let you know when they are listed.

Will you sell them together?

The cars are offered individually, but an offer for more than one is welcome and will be considered on its merits.

Can you arrange interstate transport?

Transport is the buyer's arrangement, but we are happy to work with your carrier on loading and access, and can suggest operators who regularly move cars of this age. The 1925 tourer in particular should travel enclosed.

Will there be more photographs?

Yes. Several cars are photographed only in part at the moment, and a few not at all — those are marked “coming soon” on the page. More can be taken on request, and you are welcome to bring your own camera to an inspection.

Enquiries

Come and look at them.

Every one of these is better in person than it is in a photograph, and all six are in one shed in Gippsland. Send a note or call us and we will arrange a time.
